Established in November 1999, Sunway Medical Centre (SunMed) is the first hospital in Southeast Asia to receive accreditation from Australian Council on Healthcare standards (ACHS). Monash University Malaysia
Jeffrey Cheah School of Medicine and Health Sciences (JCSMHS) at Monash University Malaysia was established in 2005. JCSMHS is currently offering undergraduate programmes in medicine and psychology as well as postgraduate coursework and research programmes. JCSMHS has got a strong research focus with particular strengths in Public Health, Neuroscience, Dengue and noncommunicable diseases with focus on Type 2 Diabetes and Obesity. There are two major platforms within the school which are Brain Research Institute Monash Sunway (BRIMS) and South East Asia Community Observatory (SEACO).
